Weyrauch Claims Individual Title, Hofstra Wins Team Championship At Saratoga Invitational

Wilton, NY - Savannah Weyrauch shot her second consecutive round of even-par 72 and placed first at the Saratoga Invitational Saturday at McGregor Links Country Club. Weyrauch won for the third time in her career and her 36-hole score of 144 set a program record. Hofstra also claimed the team title in the three-team tournament at 617 (+41).

Hofstra put six players in the top 10 with Cynthia Zhao placing second with a 147 (+3). Zhao shot a school record 68 in Friday's opening round before slipping to a 79 (+7) on Saturday. Tori Bien, who was playing as an individual, placed fourth with a 154 (+10) following rounds of 79 (+7) and 75 (+3). Claire Galante tied for fifth at 158 (+14) with rounds of 76 (+4) and 82 (+10). Dominique Jimenez placed ninth, as an individual entrant, while Mai Takahashi was 10th. Jimenez shot a 164 (+20) with rounds of 83 (+11) and 81 (+9), and Takahashi scored a 168 (+24) following rounds of 86 (+14) and 82 (+10).

Maya Torpey and Sadie Anderson finished 14th and 15th, respectively. Torpey had a 173 (+29) with rounds of 91 (+19) and 82 (+10). Anderson, playing as an individual, finished at 180 with rounds of 94 (+22) and 84 (+14). Hannah Morello placed 17th at 187 (+43) with rounds of 92 (+20) and 95 (+23).

Weyrauch bested the old record of 146 (+2) set by Lauren Petty at the Richmond Spider Invitational in 2012.

Siena was second in the team standings with a 646 (+70) with St. Rose in third at 701 (+125).

Hofstra returns to action October 3-4 at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
