Capazario Ties Hofstra Record On Day One Of The Doc Gimmler

Farmingdale, NY - Dino Capazario tied a Hofstra record with a first round 65 (-5) and shot a 68 (-2) in his second round to lead the Pride on the first day of The Doc Gimmler hosted by St. John's at Bethpage Red Course Saturday. The five-under par ties the program record for score relative to par set by Kenyon Kautz and Kyle Ritchie in 2017. 

Capazario is tied for fifth in the 86-player field at 133 (-7). He recorded 12 birdies and 19 pars over his 36 holes Saturday.The 12 birdies is tied for second among all players after day one. 

Vincent Apostolico is tied for 54th at 145 (+5) following rounds of 70 (E) and 75 (+5). Joseph Giamanco is tied for 64th at 147 (+7) with scores of 74 (+4) and 73 (+3). Jaxon Hummel is tied for 71st-place at 148 (+8) following scores of 77 (+7) and 71 (+1). Mayaank Gally shot rounds of 76 (+6) and 80 (+10) and is tied for 84th at 156 (+16).

As a team, Hofstra is 14th in the 15-team tournament at 572 (+12). Harvard leads after two rounds at 537 (-23), two strokes better than St. John's. Jeff Fang of Harvard and Jared Nelson of Connecticut are tied for the individual lead at 130 (-10). 

The final round of The Doc Gimmler gets underway Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
