Elon, NC - For the first time in the long history of the Hofstra baseball program, the Pride has lifted the Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Championship trophy. The third-seed in the tournament, Hofstra earned a 7-6 win over fifth-seeded Northeastern from Latham Park in Elon, North Carolina. The win was the Pride's third walk-off win of the tournament and ninth this season.Â

Hofstra improves its record to 30-21 with its ninth-consecutive victory. Sunday's win earned the Pride the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, and will find out their seeding and opponent at the NCAA Selection Show on Monday (May 30) at noon. The selection show will air on ESPN2. Hofstra is the first school since Delaware in 2017 to go undefeated in the conference tournament as the Pride was a perfect 4-0.Â

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth and two outs, Ryan Morash stepped up to the plate against Northeastern pitcher Thomas Balboni, and Morash was hit by a pitch on a 1-0 count, bringing home Brian Morrell from third and sending the Pride to the NCAA Tournament.Â

The Pride opened the scoring with a three-run first inning, thanks to back-to-back home runs by Anthony D'Onofrio and Will Kennedy, and an RBI double from Rosso. The Huskies (30-29-1) tied the score in the top of the fifth with three one-out runs.

Tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Santino Rosso hit a lead-off triple into right field, and Morash drove Rosso in with a single to left field. The Pride added a second run in the inning with an RBI single by Morrell. An inning later, following a score by Northeastern, Hofstra brought the lead back to two runs thanks to a home run to left field by Steve Harrington.

Hofstra was unable to close out the game in the top of the ninth, as the Huskies scored two runs with two outs to go. Corey DiLoreto singled in a run, followed by an RBI double to left field by JP Olson to tie the game.

Zack Bailey (1-0)Â came into the game in relief in the ninth inning and picked up the win for the Pride.

Morash led Hofstra with two RBIs on two hits and one hit by pitch, while Morrell paced Hofstra with four hits, including two doubles. Brad Camarda pitched seven innings for Hofstra and struck out four Northeastern batters. DiLoreto led the Huskies with three RBIs and two hits.

Balboni (0-3) picked up the loss for Northeastern.
Camarda was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship and was joined on the All-Championship Team by Morrell, Kennedy, Rosso, and Mark Faello.Â

-Hofstra won all four CAA Championship games by one run.
-Harrington blasted his seventh home run of the season, while D'Onofrio hit his third and Kennedy smacked his second homer.
-Hofstra is now 5-6 all-time in CAA Championship games.
-Hofstra's nine-game winning streak is the longest in program history since the 2013 season.
