SB: Losco and Giordano Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team

Hempstead, NY – Graduate student Devyn Losco and senior Meghan Giordano of the Hofstra softball team were both named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday afternoon. The CoSIDA Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
 
Both Losco and Giordano were selected to the first team in District 1 for the second time in their careers, which comprises Division I institutions in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
 
Losco is currently finishing up her graduate degree in Sports Science at Hofstra where she owns a 3.96 grade point average. In addition, she graduated with her Bachelor's degree last May in Exercise Science with a 3.77 GPA. A major key to the Hofstra defense, Losco played in all 48 games at catcher and caught 11 runners stealing which is second in the Colonial Athletic Association. Offensively, she recorded 27 total hits including five doubles, one triple and one home runs. In addition, she drove in 10 runs and scored 15 times. Losco concluded her Hofstra career with 97 hits, 15 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 58 runs scored, and 35 RBI's.
 
Giordano, an All-CAA First Team selection in 2022, is set to graduate with her degree in Physical Education & Health, currently owning a 3.56 GPA. This past season, Giordano transitioned seamlessly into Hofstra's starting shortstop role where she played in 47 games. Giordano batted .307 on the season with 43 hits while leading the team with 32 RBI's, seven home runs, a .521 slugging percentage, and 21 walks. In addition, she tied for the team-lead with nine doubles and 30 runs scored. Within conference action alone, Giordano batted a spectacular .424 with five home runs, 21 RBI's, a .763 slugging percentage, and .507 on base percentage. Giordano is set to enter her final season with the Pride with a .315 career batting average, 133 hits, 28 doubles, 1 triple, 22 home runs, 114 RBI's and 74 runs scored.
 
Hofstra finished the 2022 season with a 21-27 overall record and the best CAA record since 2018 (13-6).
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
