BB: Hofstra Rallies To Defeat William & Mary; Wins 20th Game Of Season

Williamsburg, VA – Hofstra scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to turn a 6-5 deficit into a 9-6 lead and went on to 11-8 win over William & Mary in Colonial Athletic Association action Saturday at Plumeri Park. The win was Hofstra's 20th of the season and gave the Pride the series win against the Tribe ahead of Sunday's finale.

Hofstra moved to 20-17 overall and 11-6 in league play with the win. William & Mary is 18-21 overall and 7-10 in the CAA.

Hofstra had taken a 5-1 lead in the second with Ryan Morash and Michael Florides having RBI singles, and Will Kennedy a three-run double. William & Mary would score three times in the third to make it a 5-4 game and then went ahead with a two-run fifth with Adam Quintero knocking in the go-ahead run with an infield single.

Zack Bailey tied the game for the Pride with a solo home run in the eighth. Anthony D'Onofrio had a two-run double to push the lead to 8-6 and Kennedy added an infield single to make it 9-6. Morash added a two-run home run in the ninth to give the Pride an 11-6 lead. The Tribe made things a little interesting in the bottom of the ninth as Tyler Solomon and Max Winters hit solo home runs to cut the lead to three. However, Michael O'Hanlon induced a ground out to end the game.

John Mikolaicyk (1-1) earned the win in relief, allowing two runs on two hits over 4 1/3 innings. O'Hanlon picked up his fifth save of the season after pitching the final two frames.

Randy Prosperi (0-3) took the loss for William & Mary after allowing three runs without recording an out in the eighth inning.

Every starter in the Hofstra lineup had at least one hit. Kennedy and Morash both had a pair of hits and three RBIs. Hofstra finished with 15 hits as a team, its second game in a row with double-digit hits.

Hofstra will look for the series sweep Sunday at 1 p.m.
