BB: Hofstra Falls In Series Finale At William & Mary

Williamsburg, VA - Santino Rosso was 2-4 with three RBIs and Ryan Morash added a pair of hits, but William & Mary scored the final nine runs of the game to pick up a 10-4 victory and salvage the final game of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series Sunday at Plumeri Park.

Hofstra slipped to 20-18 overall and 11-7 in the CAA with the loss. The Tribe improved to 19-21 overall and 8-10 in conference with the win.

Hofstra jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Rosso delivered a two-run single. William & Mary got a run back in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases before scoring on a wild pitch. The Pride extended the lead to 4-1 in the third as Kevin Bruggeman had an RBI fielder's choice and Rosso followed with an RBI double. That would be the Pride's last runs of the game as the Tribe scored three times in the third to tie the game with Nate Goranson driving in the final two with a single. William & Mary would go up by one, 5-4, in the fourth on an RBI double from Mark Trotta.

The Tribe would add three more runs in the seventh as Joe Delossantos connected on a three-run home run and then two in the eighth with Trotta getting an RBI single for one run and the final run scoring on a steal of home.

Trotta finished 4-5 with two runs and two RBIs for the Tribe. Goranson and David Hogarth each had a pair of hits for William & Mary. Matt Howat (3-2) earned the win following three innings of scoreless relief, allowing a pair of hits with four strikeouts. Carter Lovasz followed with three perfect innings to get his third save.

Hofstra starter Brad Camarda (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits over four innings.

The Pride returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Iona at 3 p.m.

Notes:
-Jake Liberatore extended his on-base streak to 17 games, while Brian Morrell has a 13-game on-base streak.
-Hofstra completed a stretch of eight consecutive road games with a 5-3 record.
-Hofstra is 21-33 all-time versus William & Mary.
