SB: Hofstra to Meet Delaware in Key CAA Series

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra softball team is heading back on the road for a key Colonial Athletic Association series battle between the top-two teams in the league at the University of Delaware this weekend. The Pride will face the Blue Hens in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23 at 12 p.m. before closing out the weekend with a single-game on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m.
 
Both teams have won every CAA series up until this point, as the Pride is 8-3 in the league (15-21 overall) while the Blue Hens are 9-3 in the conference and 26-13 overall.

Last weekend, Hofstra defeated UNCW, two games to one. The Pride opened up the weekend with a 3-2 victory before falling in the nightcap on Saturday, 6-2. Hofstra finished the weekend pouring on a season-high 11 runs on the Seahawks, winning by run-rule in six innings, 11-3. Following the weekend, Nikki Mullin was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week after compiling a 2-0 record and 1.75 ERA with six strikeouts. Meghan Giordano had a big series at the dish for Hofstra, batting .625 with five RBI, one home run, one double, two runs scored, and two walks for a .700 on base percentage and 1.125 slugging percentage.
 
In their most recent outing, Delaware lost a 4-3 decision in 10 innings on the road to Saint Joseph's. Last weekend, the Blue Hens took two of three games from Towson in Maryland. The Tigers won the first game of the series before the Blue Hens bounced back for a 5-4 and 15-4 win. Hanna Garber leads the Blue Hens with a .378 batting average while Brooke Glanden has driven in a team-high 33 runs. Emily Winburn is the Blue Hens ace and has a 2.47 ERA and 107 strikeouts. through 119.0 innings of work.
 
Last season, the teams faced six times, and Hofstra was 2-4 against the Blue Hens. Overall, Hofstra leads the all-time series with a 73-25 record.
