WGOLF: Weyrauch Tied For Eighth After First Round Of CAA Championship

Southport, NC - Savannah Weyrauch shot a first round 76 (+4) and is tied for eighth place after day one of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championship at The Reserve Club at St. James Friday afternoon. Weyrauch is three strokes off the lead following 18 holes of play. As a team, Hofstra is seventh in the seven-team field.

Weyrauch put together a round that featured one birdie and 12 pars en route to her 76. She is tied with seven others in eighth place. Cynthia Zhao and Emmah Federman were the Pride's next best scorers, with each shooting an 85 (+13) to sit in a tie for 36th place. Cameron Waltman is 39th at 88 (+16), while Claire Galante is 40th at 90 (+18). 

Charleston's Emma Schimpf and Elon's Anabelle Ackroyd are tied for first individually through 18 holes after both players carded a 73 on Friday to lead the 40-player field. 

Charleston holds a five-stroke lead over UNCW and Elon in the team competition. The Cougars 18-hole total of 301 puts them 13-over-par, while UNCW and Elon were both five strokes back at 18-over in blustery conditions in North Carolina. Delaware is fourth at 309 (+21), followed by Towson in fifth at 315 (+27). William & Mary is sixth at 323 (+35) with the Pride seventh a 334 (+46). 

Second round play gets underway Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
