Hempstead, NY – A tough third quarter doomed Hofstra in their Tuesday night home game against Binghamton, as the Pride dropped a 12-6 contest to the Bearcats from James M. Shuart Stadium.
Hofstra sees its record slip to 3-4 with tonight's defeat, and Binghamton improves to 2-3.
Dylan McIntosh led the Pride with two goals and one assist for three points, while
Colton Rudd dished out two assists, and
Rory Jones finished with a goal and an assist for the Pride.
Mac Gates made 10 saves in net for Hofstra, and
Tim Hegarty led Hofstra with two caused turnovers.
Hofstra got off to a fast start with goals by Jones and
Gerard Kane inside the first five minutes, but Binghamton rattled off three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead with 5:24 still on the clock.
Justin Sykes ended the Binghamton run with his eighth goal of the season, putting the score at 3-3 at the end of the first quarter. McIntosh and
Matt Elder found the back of the net in the second quarter, but Binghamton scored three times in the second frame as the Bearcats led, 6-5, at halftime.
The third quarter was all Binghamton, as the Bearcats scored six unanswered goals to put the game out of reach for the hosts. McIntosh finished off a pass from Rudd for his second goal of the night, but neither the Pride or Binghamton would find the back of the net for the remainder of the contest.
Kevin Winkoff, Quinn O'Hara and Thomas Greenblatt all scored twice for the Bearcats, while Winkoff added an assist to finish the game with three points. Teddy Dolan picked up the win with five saves in net. Matthew DeSouza scooped up 10 ground balls and went 19-22 on face-offs.
The Pride continues its three-game stretch at home on Saturday, March 12, with a game against Manhattan. Opening face-off from James M.
