Hempstead, NY - The 2022 Colonial Athletic Association schedule begins for Hofstra men's lacrosse on Saturday, April 2, as the Pride travels to Connecticut to take on Fairfield.

Hofstra wrapped up its non-conference schedule this past Saturday with a 10-9 overtime defeat to Providence, dropping the Pride to 4-6 on the year. Gerard Kane set new personal-bests for assists (five) and points (six) while scoring a second-quarter goal, earning himself CAA Rookie of the Week honors, while James Philbin scored a hat-trick, and Rory Jones and Dylan McIntosh each scored two goals on the day. Tom Ford led the defense with five caused turnovers, a new personal-best for the senior defenseman, and Mac Gates made six stops between the pipes.

Kane and McIntosh are tied for the team-lead with 14 goals on the year, while Kane and Matt Elder pace the squad with 10 assists each. Jones has found the back of the net 12 times in his redshirt freshman season, and Philbin has scored 10 times in 2022. Bryan McIntosh, who caused three Providence turnovers on Saturday, continues to rank second in the country in caused turnovers with 28 and is averaging 2.80 per game to rank fifth in Division I, and Gates ranks first among CAA goalies in Goals-Against Average (10.43) and save percentage (.529).

Fairfield enters Saturday's conference opener at 5-4 on the year following a 17-14 loss on March 22 to St. John's. Picked the finish sixth in the Preseason CAA Coaches' Poll, the Stags are led on offense by Jack McKenna with 29 goals and Preseason All-CAA selection Taylor Strough with 28.

Hofstra leads Fairfield, 8-5, in the all-time series. The Pride faced Fairfield twice in last season's modified conference schedule, and won on the road on March 26 before wrapping up the regular season at home with a win on April 30.
