Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra softball team is ready for another action-packed weekend at the Cardinal Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. Hofstra will play a pair of games against Louisville, one game against Illinois, and two against Western Michigan, and all games will be played at Ulmer Stadium on the campus of the University of Louisville.
Cardinal Classic Schedule (updated as of March 3 at 3 p.m.):
Friday, March 4 vs. Louisville – 3 p.m.
Friday March 4 vs. Western Michigan – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 5 vs. Western Michigan – 10 a.m.
Saturday, March 5 vs. Illinois – 12:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 6 vs. Louisville – 11:30 a.m.

Hofstra (0-9) is coming off of a challenging weekend of competition against Power Five opponents that included three meetings against Indiana and two against #3/3 Florida State.
Chelsea Manto led Hofstra with four hits on the weekend while
Meghan Giordano recorded four RBI, including her first home run of the season in the weekend opener versus Indiana.
Julia Apsel pitched 16.2 innings inside the circle for the Pride, including a complete game and six strikeouts.
Louisville enters the weekend with an 8-5 overall record. Last weekend, Louisville went 1-2 at the Wooo Pig Classic and played all three games against #10/8 Arkansas. Illinois is 6-4 and last played at the Razorback Invitational, going 2-3 over the course of the weekend with one win against Western Illinois and the other against #10 Arkansas. Western Michigan (3-6) is heading back to Louisville for the second-straight week after going 2-2 at the Bellarmine Tournament last weekend with wins over Green Bay and Bellarmine.
The Pride is 1-1 all-time against Louisville, 2-4 all-time against Illinois, and 2-1 all-time against Western Michigan.
