Hempstead, NY - Senior defender Anja Suttner was named a Third Team Academic All-America® today by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). The CSC Academic All-America® Women's Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Suttner, a First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick and the CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player, earned her first career Academic All-America® accolade. Suttner, a two-time Academic All-District® selection, recorded 13 points in 2022 on six goals and one assist, and has a 3.94 grade point average as an exercise science major. She also earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors.

Suttner is the seventh Hofstra women's soccer student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American®, joining Chrissy Arnone, Sue Weber, Dana Bergstrom, Tiffany Yovino, Monique Iannella, and Lucy Porter (twice).

Hofstra was 10-8-4 in 2022 and won the CAA Championship for a second consecutive season.
