The Hofstra University wrestling team will open the new year by competing at the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Soortswear on Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2. The 22-team event is hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. 
 
The Southern Scuffle will be streamed live by FloWrestling with live results available on FloArena. Links for both are available above. The Southern Scuffle website is also linked above with information on schedule and brackets. 
 
Hofstra will enter the Scuffle led by a trio or nationally ranked competitors. Jacob Ferreira (184) is ranked #24 by InterMat, while Trey Rogers (197) is ranked #26 in the InterMat rankings. Zachary Knighton-Ward is #28 in the InterMat rankings. 

Teams participating in the Southern Scuffle are: Appalachian State, Binghamton, Bucknell, Cal State Bakersfield, Chattanooga, Duke, Gardner-Webb, Hofstra, Iowa State, Little Rock, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina State, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Rider, Stanford, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
