National Spotlight And National Television For 100th All-Time Hofstra And Delaware Meeting

| By:
Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will open Colonial Athletic Association play against longtime rival Delaware on Thursday in a game that will have a national spotlight. It will be the 100th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Delaware in men's basketball.

The contest will tip at 7 p.m. from the Bob Carpenter Center and will air on the CBS Sports Network.

John Fanta and Tarik Turner will have the call for CBS Sports Network, and in addition, WRHU will have an audio only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to the broadcast information, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra concluded its non-conference schedule with a 7-6 record as the Pride defeated Old Westbury, 96-48, back on December 22. Darlinstone Dubar led Hofstra with 23 points in the game, while Warren Williams had 11 points and 14 rebounds and Jaquan Carlos posted eight points, 13 assists, and seven steals.

According to kenpom.com, Hofstra played the nation's 25th-toughest non-conference schedule and was one of only eight of those 25 schools to finish that portion of their schedule with a winning record. Hofstra, the only CAA school among those 25, joins Gonzaga, Alabama, Michigan State, North Carolina, Creighton, San Diego State, and Oral Roberts.

Delaware enters conference action with an 8-5 record and most recently dropped a 95-76 decision to Ohio on December 21.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with Delaware, 65-34. The Blue Hens are the Pride's most-played opponent all-time and the series began during the 1953-54 season with a 72-62 Hofstra win. Hofstra has won four straight in the series, 11 of the last 13 and 17 of the 20 meetings dating back to the 2014-15 season. The 99 all-time meetings rank first ahead of the Drexel (96) and Towson (75) series for the Pride.
