Hofstra Hosts Successful Pro Perspective Roundtable Discussion

| By:
Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics partnered with the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication graduate journalism program and the Society of Professional Journalists for an informative, entertaining, and engaging roundtable discussion involving four current and former professional athletes on Thursday evening at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

The four current and former professional athletes featured included: former Major League Baseball player Frank Catalanotto, former National Basketball Association player Speedy Claxton, former National Football League player Willie Colon, and current Athletes Unlimited player Alyssa Parrella.

Moderated by Chris Vaccaro, the director of graduate journalism at Hofstra, the panelists shared their thoughts on media, the impact of sports on society and culture and what they encountered as professional athletes under the spotlight.

All four panelists have strong connections to Hofstra as Catalanotto currently serves as the Pride's head baseball coach, Claxton played basketball for the Pride, graduated from Hofstra and is now the head men's basketball coach, Colon graduated from Hofstra and played football for the Pride, and Parrella graduated from Hofstra and played women's lacrosse for Hofstra.

A full broadcast of the panel is available on the Hofstra Pride YouTube page and both the broadcast and a photo gallery are linked above.
