Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University student-athletes turned in another outstanding academic semester, as the 21 Pride athletic programs compiled a 3.57 grade point average for the Fall 2025 semester. It marks the 27th consecutive semester with a combined GPA of 3.00 or higher. In addition, all Hofstra athletic programs recorded a 3.10 GPA or higher for the semester, and 14 programs earned team GPAs of at least 3.50.
"Extremely proud of our student-athletes and the work they put in academically," said Hofstra University Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "Academic success is one of the core principals of Hofstra Athletics, and seeing their achievements gives a tremendous feeling."
The women's tennis program led the department with a 3.82 GPA during the fall semester, while the volleyball team earned a 3.77 GPA to rank second in the department. The field hockey program was third with a GPA of 3.72.
Additionally, 43 men's and women's student-athletes earned perfect 4.00 GPAs for the Fall 2025 semester, and 205 were named to the Provost's List (4.00 GPA) or Dean's List (3.50+ GPA). Women's soccer and men's lacrosse led the department with four student-athletes on the Provost's List, while men's lacrosse also placed a department-best 26 student-athletes on the Dean's List.
The Fried Center for Student-Athlete Development, located in James C. Metzger Hall, has a dedicated staff offering tailored guidance and a range of support services from pre-enrollment through post-graduation. Fostering success in academics and life, the center provides the Pride Enhancement Program, where student-athletes benefit from an objective-based study hall program and tutorial services designed to promote academic excellence.
