Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of
Robert Cesareo to the position of assistant director of broadcast productions and
Brendan Varley to the position of director of ticket sales and operations.
"Thrilled to welcome Robert and Brendan to the Pride," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "Both have demonstrated expertise in their respective fields and we look forward to continued elevation of our broadcast productions and ticket operations with them on board."
Cesareo, 2025 graduate of Hofstra's Lawrence Herbert School of Communication and former Hofstra Sports Media student, brings with him a wealth of hands-on experience, technical expertise, and a dedication to elevating the department's broadcasts. He has worked as a technical manager, technical director, and operations manager for Hofstra Sports Media, in addition to working on productions for the New York Mets and the Somerset Patriots (minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees). Cesareo worked as a broadcast engineering intern for the Mets and a MiLB camera operator and engineer for the Patriots. A native of South Plainfield, New Jersey, Cesareo has a bachelor's degree in video/television production.

Varley brings vast knowledge and experience to the department, having previously served in a variety of roles in the college athletics ticketing space. Varley came to Hofstra after working as the director of ticket sales at Taymar Sales U. / Sacred Heart University since August 2024. He began his career with the USTA in 2022 as a US Open premium seating coordinator. From there, Varley worked as a senior account executive with LEARFIELD / St. John's University, and then at Taymar / Sacred Heart prior to joining the Pride. In his role with Taymar / Sacred Heart, Varley led ticket sales strategy for all ticketed athletic events, contributed to a plus 40% revenue increase during the 2024-25 athletic year, and was the Breakout Leader of the Year Award recipient while with the Pioneers. He earned his bachelor's degree in sport management, with a concentration in business administration from St. John's in 2021.
