Hofstra Faces Towson In CAA Semifinals Sunday

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University women's soccer team continues play at the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championship Sunday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals against the fifth-seeded Towson Tigers. The game will take place at Monmouth's Hesse Field on The Great Lawn in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

Hofstra (8-7-4), seeded eighth, is coming off a 1-1 draw against Monmouth in the quarterfinals on Thursday with the Pride advancing on penalty kicks, 5-4. Krista Agostinello had the decisive kick in the seventh round to send Hofstra through. It is the sixth consecutive season that Hofstra is a CAA Semifinalist. The Pride has won seven CAA titles, including the 2021 championship, and is 21-11-3 all-time in CAA Championship play. 

Towson enters the semifinal game with a record of 12-2-5, The Tigers picked up a 2-1 win over No. 4 Elon in Thursday's second quarterfinal. Nia Christopher and Phoebe Canoles, Towson's top two offensive threats, scored for the Tigers. Elon scored an 88th minute goal to make it a one-goal game. The Tigers are in the CAA Semifinals for the first time in program history,

Hofstra is 25-2-1 all-time against Towson and has won 11 consecutive meetings. The teams did not play during the 2022 regular season.

The winning team will advance to play in the CAA Championship game next Saturday, November 5 at the winner of No. 2 Drexel vs. No. 3 Northeastern.
