Hofstra Posts Decisive Win At Lafayette Behind Svalander's Hat Trick

Easton, PA - Oliver Svalander scored his first career hat trick and Eliot Goldthorp added a goal of his own as Hofstra picked up a decisive 4-0 victory at Lafayette Tuesday night at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium. The victory extended Hofstra's unbeaten streak to three games.

Hofstra, which is ranked fourth in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Poll, improved to 10-3-3 on the season. The Leopards, ranked fifth in the region, dipped to 8-5-3.

Svalander opened the scoring off an assist from Roc Carles at 20:24 following a flurry in front of the Lafayette goal. Svalander struck again at 24:37 with an unassisted goal. Eliot Goldthorp put the Pride up, 3-0, with a penalty kick at 34:07. Svalander completed his three-goal night, taking a sweet back-heel pass from Ryan Carmichael and racing in on goal at the 65:48 mark.

The Hofstra defense held Lafayette to five shots, none on goal as Wessel Speel and Alex Dudley did not have to make a save. The Pride had 15 shots in the game, 10 on goal. Lafayette keeper Griffin Huff made five saves.

Hofstra will close out the regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Charleston in a key Colonial Athletic Association contest. The game will serve as Hofstra's senior day as well. 

Notes: 
-Hofstra is 2-7-1 all-time versus Lafayette.
-Hofstra's 10-win season is the 15th under Coach Richard Nuttall.
-Goldthorp's 13th goal ties him for sixth on the Hofstra single season list.
