Hempstead, NY - Hofstra sophomore Chiara Cucco continued her strong season as she was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon. 

Cucco previously earned the award on September 19 and October 10. 

Cucco was outstanding this week in helping Hofstra extend the win streak to 12 straight matches. 

She tallied 19 digs and two assists in Saturday's win before notching 21 digs and three assists in Sunday's victory. Both totals were good for match-high honors. 

She had 40 digs and five assists during the week and averaged 5.00 digs per set. 

The win streak is now the sixth-longest in program history, tied with the 2006 and 1994 teams. It is currently the fifth-longest win streak in the nation.

Hofstra is now 15-8 overall and 12-0 in conference play.
