12 Consecutive Wins; Pride Continues Remarkable Streak

Hempstead, NY - Freshman Izadora Stedile had 13 kills and senior Zyare Abdul-Rahim tallied 11 kills, including the 500th of her career, to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to its incredible 12th consecutive win, a four-set victory over Delaware on Sunday afternoon at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.

The win streak is now the sixth-longest in program history, tied with the 2006 and 1994 teams. It is currently the fifth-longest win streak in the nation.

Hofstra improved to 15-8 overall and 12-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Delaware fell to 11-9 and 7-5 in the league. The 12-0 start is the second-best CAA start for Hofstra since joining the league in 2001, only the 2006 team (13-0) was better.

Set scores were 25-20, 21-25, 25-14, and 25-23.

The Pride was spectacular early on in the match, hitting at a .419 clip in the first set to get off to a solid start. Delaware regrouped and knotted the match at one set each with a four-point win in the second stanza, but Hofstra once again was tremendous offensively in the third set as they hit .346 in dominating the Blue Hens. A tight fourth set ensued and it was Hofstra that once again was able to eke out a narrow victory to continue the remarkable win streak.

Sophomore Beatriz Alves posted 43 assists, seven digs, three blocks, and two kills in the match, while freshman Emilly Nunes had a team-best five blocks and added six kills. Sophomore Chiara Cucco picked up a match-high 21 digs.

Savannah Seemans had 15 kills and nine digs for Delaware, which also got 21 assists, six digs, and three kills from Lily Rogers.

Hofstra will step out of conference play next weekend when it hosts Chicago State on Sunday at 1 p.m. That match will air on FloVolleyball.
