Hofstra And Drexel Play To 2-2 Draw

Philadelphia, PA - Hofstra's Eliot Goldthorp and Ryan Carmichael each scored goals but Drexel scored the tying goal in the 75th minute as the Pride and the Dragons played to a 2-2 draw at Vidas Field Saturday afternoon in a Colonial Athletic Association game. 

Hofstra moved to 9-3-3 overall and 4-2-2 in CAA play with the draw, its second in a row following a 1-1 tie at No. 24 Virginia last Tuesday. Drexel is 5-3-6 overall and 3-2-3 in league play.

Drexel took a 1-0 lead at the 15:35 mark on Josh Dubost's goal. The Pride would tie it on Goldthorp's penalty kick goal at 25:07. Carmichael made it a 2-1 game at 69:07 before Giancarlo Vaccaro scored the equalizer at 74:30.

Hofstra outshot the Dragons, 21-10, and had nine shots on goal compared to three for the home side. Drexel keeper Alessandro Capogna made seven saves to keep the Dragons in the game. Wessel Speel had one save for the Pride.

Hofstra is back in action Tuesday night at Lafayette. Game time is 7 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra is 21-22-11 all-time against Drexel and had won three consecutive meetings against the Dragons. 
-Goldthorp and Carmichael recorded their 12th and ninth goals, respectively. 
-Hofstra is 4-1-3 on the road this season. 
-Goldthorp's 29 points this season is currently tied for ninth on Hofstra single season list.
-Carmichael tied Patrick Geraghty (1998-2001) for ninth on the career points list with 67.
