Philadelphia, PA – Hofstra suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road to Drexel in a late-season Colonial Athletic Association contest from Buckley Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Hofstra's record drops to 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the CAA. Drexel moves to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
The Dragons opened the scoring in the first quarter on an unassisted goal by the team's leading scorer Eline Di Leva five minutes into the start of the game. Natali Foster scored the second Drexel goal three minutes into the fourth quarter.
Merlijn van der Vegt made eight saves against Drexel, with six of those saves coming in the fourth quarter. Their performance moved them into ninth for the most saves in a career at Hofstra with 296 saves, passing Carys Swan (290, 2014-17).
Megan Hadfield picked up the win for Drexel. Stephanie Oleykowski and Taylor Mason had defensive saves for the Dragons.
Hofstra wraps up its weekend in Newark, Delaware on Sunday against Delaware. The opening whistle will take place at noon.
