Hofstra Places Three In Top 10; Finishes Second At Hawk Invitational

Lakewood, NJ - Cynthia Zhao fired a final round 72 (E) and tied for third place at the Monmouth Hawk Fall Invitational Sunday at Eagle Ridge Golf Club. As a team, Hofstra was second in the five-team field.

Zhao shot a two-round 149 (+5) to finish three strokes off the lead. The Pride placed two other golfers in the top 10 as Savannah Weyrauch finished fifth and Dominique Jimenez was sixth. Weyrauch also had an even-par 72 Sunday and totaled 150 (+6) over her two rounds. Jimenez shot a 74 (+2) Sunday to finish with a two-round score of 153 (+9). Maya Torpey tied for 20th at 169 (+25) following a final round 82 (+10). Mai Takahashi was 29th at 190 (+46) after shooting a final round 94 (+22). All five Hofstra players shaved strokes off their first round scores.

The Pride finished with a two-round team score of 621 (+45), 17 strokes behind team champion Monmouth. Saint Francis (PA) was third at 637 (+61) followed by Niagara at 661 (+85) and La Salle at 671 (+95).

Monmouth's Paige Diecidue was the individual medalist at 146 (+2) following a final round 70 (-2). Teammate Ava Lozito was second at 147 (+3) after carding a 74 (+2) in her final round.

Hofstra will wrap up their fall season this Friday at Wagner.
