Towson, Md. – The Hofstra women's basketball team continued Colonial Athletic Association action on Sunday evening, but dropped a 86-45 decision to the Towson Tigers.
Selma Markisic led Hofstra with 13 points (5-of-15 FG), all of which she scored during the fourth quarter, while
Jaylen Hines followed eight points.
Rosi Nicholson and
Jahsyni Knight tallied seven points apiece while Knight finished with six rebounds and Nicholson added five. Nicholson had another solid game defensively with four steals, while
Zyheima Swint led Hofstra on the glass with seven rebounds.
Hofstra had a solid first quarter, shooting 46-percent from the field to Towson's 36-percent, but the Tigers held a 19-13 advantage after the first 10 minutes. Hofstra went cold during the second period and trailed the Tigers at the half, 35-16.
The Pride fought back out of the locker room and ultimately scored 29 second half points, but the Tigers offensive proved to be too much as Towson earned the home victory. Markisic finished the game scoring 13 of Hofstra's 15 points while the defense held the Tigers one for their final seven shots from the field.
Aleah Nelson led the Tigers with 19 points while four total Tigers reached double figures in scoring.
Hofstra dropped to 3-12 overall and 0-7 in the CAA while Towson improved to 15-4 and 6-2 in the conference.
The Pride is back in action for a Tuesday mid-afternoon contest against UNCW.
