Hempstead, N.Y. – The Hofstra University women's soccer team (5-1) is set to continue its non-conference homestand with a pair of matches against Bucknell (Friday, September 10) and Yale (Sunday, September 12). Friday's match at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 4 p.m. while Sunday's match is slated for a noon start.

Hofstra is coming off a 2-0 week where it saw two offensive bursts against a pair of Ivy League opponents. The Pride opened the week with a 3-0 victory over Columbia last Thursday before turning around to claim a 3-1 victory over Penn on Sunday. Junior
Ellen Halseth continued her breakout performances with two goals including the game-winning goal against Penn, while
Lucy Shepherd recorded one goal and two assists for the Pride.
On the season, Hofstra averages 17.8 shots per game while the defense surrenders just 5.2 opponent opportunities per contest. The Pride has scored an average of three goals per match during the first six contests while allowing just 0.67 goals. Junior
Miri Taylor now has 13 points to lead Hofstra (5 goals, 3 assists) while Shepherd is second with 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists). Both players rank inside the top-35 in the nation in total points as Taylor is ninth and Shepherd is 35th.
Bucknell (2-3-1) most recently dropped a 1-0 decision to Columbia last Sunday, but shut out Mount St. Mary's, 2-0 in the contest prior. The Bison are led by Rylee Donaldson who has five points on two goals and one assist, while Abby Gearhart follows with one goal and two assists. Goalkeeper Jenna Hall has made 31 stops on the year for an average of 5.2 per game. Hofstra is 2-0-0 in the all-time series against Bucknell. The teams last faced in 2018 when Hofstra defeated Bucknell to open up the season, 1-0.
Yale (0-4) is in search for its first win of the season against UAlbany on Thursday evening. The Bulldogs have scored three goals this season, including two by Ellie Rappole. Goalkeeper Annie Welch has allowed 15 goals this season while accumulating 14 saves. Hofstra is 1-3-0 in the all-time series against Yale. The last meeting between the two teams was in September 2019 when Hofstra fell in double overtime, 3-2, but in the meeting before that, Hofstra defeated Yale, 5-4 in double overtime in 2015.
