Hempstead, NY – Hofstra head softball coach, Adrienne Clark, announced the first addition to her coaching staff Tuesday as Ashley Weingartz was named an Assistant Coach.

"I am pumped to have Ashley join the Hofstra softball staff!" said Clark. "Her passion for the sport, dedication to excellence, and work ethic make her the perfect fit for our program. She has a very bright career in coaching and I am thankful to have her on staff."

Weingartz arrives at Hofstra following a stint as the graduate assistant manager at the University of South Carolina, where she assisted in all aspects of the Gamecock softball program. While at South Carolina, Weingartz assisted head coach, Beverly Smith during bullpen sessions and helped develop scouting reports for opposing teams through video and statistical analysis.

Weingartz, a North Carolina native, played a successful four-year softball career at East Carolina University where she was coached by four-time NCAA regional participant and Hofstra alumna, Courtney Oliver '08. A catcher and outfielder at East Carolina, Weingartz appeared in 134 games and tallied 73 hits, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored, and 37 walks. In addition, she served as the softball representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was the founder of the Student-Athlete Pen Pal program (SAPP) which provided over 50 fifth graders student-athlete pen pals throughout the year.

Outside of the collegiate realm, Weingartz served as an instructor at Next Level Training Center and the Jen Schroeder Catching Retreat, was the head coach for the Irmo Bombers 12U team, and was the lead catching instructor for the Trenholm Little League pitching and catching camp.

Weingartz is heavily involved with the Little League organization as well, as she serves as a Tournament Committee Member, Social Media, and Intern Coordinator for the Little League Softball World Series which is held in her hometown, Greenville, North Carolina. She planned and implemented a year-round social media strategy for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the Little League Softball World Series and managed the entire recruitment and hiring process for a team of interns.

Her work with the Little League organization did not stop there, however, as Weingartz spent the summer of 2017 in Williamsport, Pa. as a Marketing Intern for Little League International, working full-time in the sponsorship, marketing, and licensing departments.

Weingartz graduated summa cum laude from East Carolina in May 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Studies. She earned her Master's Degree in Sport and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina in May 2021.
