VB: Hofstra Hosts Towson To Open Colonial Athletic Association Play

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra volleyball team will begin Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend when Towson visits for a pair of matches. 

The Pride and the Tigers will meet on Saturday and Sunday with both matches beginning at 1 p.m. 

Both matches will air on FloVolleyball and have live statistics available. Links to follow can be found on this page and on the volleyball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. Audio for the broadcast is provided by WRHU, Radio Hofstra University. 

Hofstra heads into the start of CAA action with a 6-5 overall record after splitting its four matches last week. Graduate student Ana Martinovic leads the team with 107 kills, while freshman Beatriz Alves is tops with 368 assists, freshman Chiara Cucco is first on the team with 207 digs, and junior Sarah Pierre has a team-best 42 blocks. Martinovic also has 16 service aces to lead the team.

Towson is 12-0 this season after winning all four of its matches at the Tiger Invitational over the weekend. Fay Bakodimou has 99 kills and 18 service aces to lead the Tigers in both categories. Rachel Hess is first on the team with 163 digs, while Megan Wilson has 261 assists and Lydia Wiers has 43 blocks for first on the squad in those respective categories. 

Hofstra is 45-19 all-time against Towson. The teams did not meet in the shortened 2021 spring season.
