WSOC: Taylor Grabs CAA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

8/30/2021 1:00:00 PM

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior forward Miri Taylor has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league Monday afternoon.

This is Taylor's first CAA weekly award of the season and third of her career, and it is also the second-straight week that Hofstra earned CAA weekly recognition as Lucy Shepherd and Georgia Brown were named the Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively last week.

Taylor registered three goals during Hofstra's 1-1 weekend, including two in the Pride's 4-0 shutout of Brown and one against seventh-ranked Penn State. Her first goal against Brown was a header off of the foot of Krista Agostinello, while her second goal was a highlight-reel strike from 30-yards out, again assisted by Agostinello, and was featured as the No. 8 play on ESPN's SportCenter Top-10 plays that evening. She went on to score Hofstra's lone goal against Penn State that brought Hofstra within one goal.

Taylor was a threat all weekend long, tallying nine total shots over the weekend, including a season-high of five against Penn State.

This season, Taylor has 10 points to lead Hofstra including four goals and two assists. She leads the conference in points, goals, points per game, and goals per game.

The CAA Preseason Attacking Player of the Year increased her career point total to 62 this past weekend, leaving her two away from cracking into Hofstra's top-10 all-time in career points.

After a rigorous weekend, Hofstra is right back at it on Thursday evening for a non-conference matchup at Columbia. Kick-off against the Lions is set for 7 p.m.
