RICHMOND, Va. – Fifth year forward Lucy Shepherd and freshman midfielder Georgia Brown captured Colonial Athletic Association weekly awards, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Shepherd was named the League's Offensive Player of the Week while Brown collected Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Shepherd tallied a career-high seven points this week, all of which occurred in Hofstra's commanding 5-1 victory over Stony Brook to open up the season. She recorded the first hat trick of her Hofstra career with three goals and was credited with the eventual game-winning goal. She also tallied one assist on Hofstra's first goal of the match. Shepherd was highly effective, scoring on all three of her shots on goal.
 
Brown was fantastic during her entire debut weekend, however the midfielder shined in Hofstra's 2-0 victory over UAlbany to close out the weekend, scoring both goals in the shutout victory. She was a threat all weekend long, tallying four shots per game while playing nearly every minute on the pitch.
 
Hofstra returns to action for another non-conference match against Brown, this Friday, August 27. Kick-off at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
