Brookline, MA - Northeastern pitcher Wyatt Scotti tossed eight shutout innings, allowing two hits, as the Huskies completed a four-game series sweep over Hofstra with an 11-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
The Huskies improved to 27-6 on the season and 15-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The win extended their nation's best winning streak to 17 games. Hofstra dropped to 15-19 overall and 6-13 in CAA play with the loss.
Scotti (4-1) allowed a single to
Nick Marrero in the second inning and an infield single to
Austin Gauthier in the third. He walked just two batters and struck out two as well. The Huskies offense scored single runs in the first, second, and third innings and then put up two more in the fifth. Northeastern put the game out of reach with three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.
Jared Dupere was 2-3 with his league-leading 15th home run for Northeastern, a two-run shot in the eighth. He also scored three runs. Danny Crossen was 2-5 with two RBIs, while Ryan Cervone and Ian Fair each had two hits and two RBIs on the day.
John Mikolaicyk (0-4) started for the Pride, his first start of the season, and allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits over four innings.
Hofstra will host Northeastern in a single game on Wednesday, May 12, at 3 p.m. The game is a makeup from a contest rained out at Hofstra on April 11.
