Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics mourns the passing of former Hofstra men's basketball student-athlete Demetrius Dudley.
Dudley, who played two seasons for the Pride in 1991-92 and 1992-93, passed away on Monday, April 5.
Dudley led Hofstra in scoring in both seasons as a member of the program, averaging 21.7 points in 1991-92, and followed that up with 22.7 points per game in his final season in 1992-93.
His 1,220 career points ranks 24th all-time in program history despite playing only two seasons, and his 44 points against Central Connecticut State on February 9, 1993, is the fifth-highest single game total in school history.
On December 19, 1992, Dudley nearly engineered the program's first-ever win against St. John's as he scored 26 of Hofstra's 56 points in a narrow 58-56 defeat that was decided with seconds left in the contest.
