WGOLF: Pride Places Second At Hofstra Invitational

Medford, NY - Georgia Naples of Wagner won individual medalist honors and helped the Seahawks win the Hofstra Invitational title Sunday afternoon at Mill Pond Golf Course. Naples carded back-to-back rounds of 80 (+10) for a total of 160 (+20) to finish one shot ahead of runner-up and teammate Audrey Paradis.

As a team, Wagner had a two-day total of 650 (+90) with scores of 328 (+48) and 322 (+42) to finish 31 strokes ahead of runner-up Hofstra. The Pride had rounds of 343 (+63) and 338 (+58) to finish with a 681 (+121). Niagara rounded out the tournament field in third place at 754 (+194) following rounds of 379 (+99) and 375 (+95).

Averee Dovsek was the Pride's top finisher, tying for third at 164 (+24). Dovsek, who held the first round lead after an opening round 78 (+8), shot an 86 (+16) on Sunday. Cameron Waltman placed sixth at 167 (+27) with rounds of 85 (+15) and 82 (+12). The 82 was the best score by a Hofstra player on Sunday.

Savannah Weyrauch placed eighth in her collegiate debut, posting scores of 89 (+19) and 83 (+13) for a two-day 172 (+32). Emmah Federman was 10th in the 15-player field with a 178 (+38), following rounds of 91 (+21) and 87 (+17).

Hofstra will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday when it hosts Wagner at Mill Pond Golf Course.
