FH: Hofstra Suffers Setback in Road Loss to Yale

New Haven, CT - The Hofstra field hockey team scored the first goal of the afternoon, but it was all Yale following that moment as the Bulldogs posted a 6-1 victory over the Pride from Johnson Field Sunday afternoon. Hofstra now sits at 7-10 overall with the conclusion of the non-conference schedule.

Lieke Gorsse put Hofstra on the board in the second quarter. Eline Oldeman advanced into the shooting arc before laying it off to Gorsse. Gorsse chipped a hard shot over Yale's Luanna Summer at 8:47 of the second quarter for her third goal of her freshman season.

Yale (7-8) quickly responded with a tying goal from Theodora Dillman on the first penalty corner of the day at 7:37. The Bulldogs took the lead with 1:41 left on the clock on another penalty corner opportunity, with Keely Comizio scoring for the hosts, to put Yale ahead by one going into halftime.

The second half was all Bulldogs, as they found the back of the net four more times. Ellie Barlow scored for Yale in the third quarter, and goals by Lena Ansari, Kelly Dolan, and Ashley Kim in the fourth quarter put the score at 6-1.

Hofstra will look to qualify for the Colonial Athletic Association Championship as they head to Massachusetts for the regular season finale against Northeastern at 4 p.m. on October 29.
