Hempstead, NY - Senior women's golf student-athlete Averee Dovsek won the women's championship at the inauguarl Lexus Long Drive Championship presented by the Metropolitan Golf Association. The event was held September 30 at the Polo Fields at Bethpage State Park. 

The competition, open to all ages, featured five-minute rounds for each competitor. Golfers were given 10 swings in those five minutes and the longest drive was taken.

Dovsek, a Laguna Hills, California, native, slammed a 280-yard drive in regulation and followed that up with a 277-yard drive in the finals. She defeated Jen Doppelt, who topped out at 267 yards, for the title.
