WILMINGTON, N.C. – Hofstra held a three-point advantage at halftime, but dropped a Colonial Athletic Association contest to the UNCW Seahawks at Trask Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, 56-43.

Sorelle Ineza added 10 points for Hofstra, her fourth-straight game in double figures and senior
Marianne Kalin finished with eight points. Sophomore
JaKayla Brown finished with a career-high eight rebounds.
It was a slow start for both teams as the score was just 12-6 in favor of UNCW at the end of the first quarter, however Hofstra jumped on a 10-2 run to start the second frame and out-scored the Seahawks, 15-6 during the next 10 minutes to take a 21-18 lead into the halftime break. Hofstra shot 7-of-14 in the second quarter and got six points from Hines and four from Kalin.
UNCW took control right out of the locker room and used a 9-0 run to claim a 27-21 lead over Hofstra with 8:16 in the third. Hofstra brought the Seahawk lead back to three on two occasions throughout the remainder of the third quarter, first at 4:41 with a Hines fastbreak layup and gain with a Hines free throw at 3:49.
UNCW hit a three-pointer within the first 30 seconds of the final stanza to extend its lead out to 10 before Hofstra scored four-straight points by the 7:59 mark to get back within six points. Hines made it a four-point game, 43-38 with 4:51 on the clock, and Ineza hit a jump shot on Hofstra's next possession to make the score 44-40 in favor of UNCW. The Seahawks scored five-straight points to maintain control before Ineza converted on a three-point play to put the game at six, however UNCW scored the final seven points of the game across the final two minutes to take the home-court victory.
Hofstra dropped to 3-25 on the season and 0-17 in the CAA. UNCW moved to 9-18 and 6-10 in the League.
Hofstra has one regular season contest remaining and it will take place at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Saturday, March 7 against the Northeastern Huskies. The game is set to tip off at 2 p.m. and will serve as Hofstra's senior day. Prior to the game, the women's basketball program will honor its four graduating players including
Marianne Kalin,
Sandra Karsten,
Petja Krupenko and
Ana Hernandez Gil.
