MTRK: Hofstra Heads to West Point Saturday

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Hofstra men's track team continues action on Saturday, February 22 at the Army West Point Tune-Up at the Gillis Field House on the grounds of the United States Military Academy.

60m:
Jorey Garcia, Gavin Jones, Ralph Licciardi, Paul Markovina, Alex Masai, Sean Masterson, Danny Pires, Isa Suleiman
400m: Andrew Giovinazzo, Konrad Rynkowski, Eryk Yarkosky
1 Mile: Ben Haber, Tosin Ibironke, Tyler McPartland, Dylan Price
 
The last time that the Hofstra men's track team competed was at the Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University. Only two runners competed including Masai, who posted a personal-best time of 7:53.04 in the 3000m run (16th place overall) and Markovina who also recorded a personal record time of 15:03.31 in the 5000m run.
 
Eight Pride runners are scheduled to compete in the 60-meter dash. Four have competed in the event before, including Jones (7.66 seconds), Garcia (7.84 seconds), Licciardi (7.86 seconds) and Markovina (9.69 seconds). Masai, Masterson, Pires and Suleiman will all compete in the event for the first time in their careers. The men's 60m dash preliminaries are set for 12:00 p.m. and the finals will follow at 1:15 p.m.
 
In the 400m dash, Rynkowski looks to best his seed time of 57.07, while Giovinazzo looks to improve his mark of 58.46. Yarkosky will compete in the event for the first time. The men's 400m dash is set to go off at 12:45 p.m.
 
Finally in the one mile run, four Pride runners look to improve upon their times. Of the group competing, Ibironke leads the Pride with a seeding mark of 4:42.97, while Price follows at 4:58.44. Haber enters with a seeding time of 5:00.00 while Mcpartland rounds out the runners with a seeding time of 5:01.27. The one mile run will begin at 12:25 p.m.
