BB: Hofstra Falls To Purdue In Series Finale

Sanford, FL - Hofstra rallied for eight runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-6 lead but Purdue responded with four runs in its half of the inning and held on to post a 10-9 victory Sunday at Sanford Memorial Stadium.

Hofstra dropped to 1-3 on the season while Purdue moves to 3-1.

The Pride trailed 6-1 going into the sixth inning before erupting for eight runs on five hits. Hofstra loaded the bases with no outs. Following a strikeout, Alex Sica delivered a bases clearing double. Will Kennedy followed with a double that moved Sica to third. Ryan Morash knocked in Sica with a single and Kennedy would come home on a passed ball. The Pride would load the bases once again and score two runs on an infield error. After loading the bases for a third time, Brian Goulard drew a walk to force in the final run.

The lead was short-lived as Purdue struck for four runs in their turn at bat. The final two runs of the inning were unearned following a Hofstra error. Pinch hitter Bryce Bonner knocked in the go ahead run with a single.

Kyle Skidmore took the hard-luck loss, giving up a hit and an unearned run in one-third of an inning. Austin Gauthier was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored while Anthony D'Onofrio was 3-4 with a double and two runs. Sean Flaherty added two hits and a run scored with Morash also recording a two-hit game.

Hofstra is back in action this Saturday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, versus La Salle. First pitch in game one of a doubleheader is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra reliever Seamus Brazill threw 2 2/3 of hitless relief.
-Michael Murray pitched the final two innings without allowing a run or a hit.
-The Pride recorded 13 hits, their third consecutive double-digit hit performance.
