WTEN: Dolabany Selected For Student-Athlete Mentoring Program

11/12/2020 1:36:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University senior women's tennis student-athlete Ronia Dolabany (Doral, FL) has been selected to participate in the virtual Student-Athlete Mentoring Program, sponsored by NBC Sports and the Women's Sports Foundation. The second-year program is designed to inspire and support women collegiate student-athletes as they explore potential career paths.

Dolabany is one of just 20 student-athletes nationwide to take part in the program, which began today and runs through May 2021. NBC Sports Group employees serve as program mentors and represent a diverse range of business functions including legal, human resources, marketing, digital, communications, operations, IT, finance, sales, and media production.

"I'm honored to have been chosen to be part of this wonderful program alongside 19 other female student-athletes across the nation," said Dolabany. "The Women's Sports Foundation is such an inspirational organization that was founded by an activist and athlete in the tennis community, Billie Jean King. I hope to get an inside look at the corporate sports industry and learn from inspiring female leaders at NBC Sports."

The Women's Sports Foundation and NBC Sports will engage with student-athletes on career development, network building, interpersonal communication, interviewing skills, and navigating the workplace. Mentors will share their professional experience, insight, and networks, while the Women's Sports Foundation will facilitate monthly professional development, and explore themes around gender equality and advocacy.

Today's opening session features welcome remarks from Lauren Lubin April of the Women's Sports Foundation and Brett Goodman of the NBC Sports Group. That is followed by several group sessions covering the power of the mentoring partnership, optimizing the mentoring program, and team building. The day concludes with breakout sessions between each student-athlete and their mentor.

A Hofstra Provost's List selection and a member of the Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars and CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, Dolabany is majoring in international business with a minor in finance.
