MBB: Hofstra Continues Home Stand Against Elon

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will host Elon on Saturday as the Pride plays the second of two home Colonial Athletic Association contests to open the New Year. 

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is slated for 4 p.m.

Hofstra, which has won five of its last six games, is 11-5 and 2-1 in CAA action following its first conference defeat of the season against William & Mary on Thursday. Four members of the Pride average in double figures as senior Desure Buie (17.3), senior Eli Pemberton (16.6), junior Jalen Ray (12.6), Tareq Coburn (11.1) pace Hofstra offensively. Sophomore Isaac Kante leads the team with 6.7 rebounds, while ranking fifth with 9.1 points per outing. Bue is tops on the team with 88 assists this season. 

Elon is 4-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play after dropping a 77-68 decision at Northeastern on Thursday. A trio of players for the Phoenix average in double figures as Marcus Sheffield II leads the way with 17.1 points, Hunter McIntosh is second with 11 points per outing and Hunter Woods is third on the team with 10.5 points and leads the squad with 6.2 rebounds per game. Sheffield has a team-high 41 assists. 

Hofstra is 8-3 all-time against Elon in a series that began in the 2009-10 campaign. The first meeting, a 70-46 Pride win, occurred in the NIT Season Tip-Off. Hofstra has won three straight in the series, including both meetings a season ago.
