OPENING KICKOFF
After another 1-1 opening week including a dominant win over Fordham, the Hofstra Pride Women's Soccer team will return to action with two-straight road tests. The Pride will travel to No. 21 Rutgers on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. before a highly anticipated match against Stony Brook, known as the Long Island Rivalry presented by The Greene Turtle, on Sunday, September 8 with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

Hofstra is coming off its second-straight 1-1 week with a 2-1 setback against Brown and 6-1 win over Fordham in the Pride's home opener. This past week, junior midfielder
Lucy Porter tallied four goals, while junior forward
Sabrina Bryan had two goals and one assist, and sophomore midfielder
Megan Fisher recorded one goal. Sophomore

Lucy Shepherd, and freshmen
Cailey Welch and
Anja Suttner all posted assists as the Pride posted 17 points across both games, including 14 against Fordham. Porter tied the Hofstra program record with four goals scored, and as a result, was named the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week.

Inside the Series:
The Pride and Scarlet Knights will meet for just the third time in program history, with Rutgers coming away with a win all three times. The last time the teams met was during the 2015 season in the NCAA tournament when Rutgers won, 2-0.

Rutgers is off to a 4-0 start this season with a key win over No. 11 Tennessee last week, helping the Scarlet Knights propel into the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 rankings. Junior forward Amirah Ali, a 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy Candidate and Second Team All-American and classmate Nneka Moneme lead Rutgers with three goals each while Moneme recently recorded a hat trick in a 5-0 victory over Fordham. Sophomore goalkeeper Meagan McClelland, the reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year, has recorded three-straight shutouts as the Scarlet Knights have not allowed a goal since their season opening overtime win against Central Connecticut State on August 22.

Hofstra owns a dominating 11-3-0 record over Stony Brook, including a nine-match win streak dating back to the 1999 season. The last time the teams met was last season when Hofstra won at home, 1-0.
About the Stony Brook Seawolves:
Stony Brook, led by Hofstra former Associate Head Coach, Tobias Bischof, got off to a 3-0 start this season, the best since 2000. The Seawolves recently suffered their first loss of the season to Saint Joseph's on Sunday. Junior Midfielder Chelsie DePonte is the top scorer for Stony Brook with two goals, while four other Seawolves have recorded one. Junior Sofia Manner has recorded every minute in goal, allowing an average of 1.00 goals per game with a 0.833 save percentage.

The Pride will return action at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium for two-straight home matches against Fairleigh Dickinson and Columbia. Kickoff against Fairleigh Dickinson is on Thursday, September 12 at 7 p.m. while the Columbia match will follow on Sunday, September 15 at 1 p.m.
