FH: Hofstra Scores Twice In The Third Quarter To Top Yale

Hempstead, NY – Sophomore Cami Larsson and senior Madison Warfel scored third quarter goals to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit and give the Hofstra Pride Field Hockey team a 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs of Yale at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Pride won for the fourth time in five contests to improve to 4-5 on the season. The Bulldogs of Yale dropped their second consecutive game to fall to 2-5 on the season.

After a scoreless first quarter, Yale took the lead in the second quarter off a penalty corner with senior Bridget Condie scoring her second goal of the season off assists from juniors Sarah King and Imogen Davies at the 24:07 mark.

Hofstra tied the contest at the 38:29 mark on a give-and-go play immediately following a penalty corner as Larsson took the insertion pass, fed classmate Djuna Slort, who in turn passed back to Larsson for the shot in the middle of the circle. It was Larsson's team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Just 26 second before the end of the third quarter, the Pride struck again. Junior Frankie O'Brien sent a long pass from well outside the circle which was tipped by Warfel inside the circle and went past Yale goalie Sydney Terroso for the 2-1 final score.

Hofstra returns to action and begins its Colonial Athletic Association schedule this Friday, October 4 when the Pride host the Dragons of Drexel at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time is 3 p.m.
