Poughkeepsie, NY - Matthew Vowinkel scored for the second game in a row, but Hofstra dropped a 3-1 decision to Marist Wednesday night at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
Hofstra saw its record move to 4-4 on the season while the Red Foxes improved to 3-4 overall.
Marist's Huib Achterkamp opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a penalty kick. The Red Foxes extended the lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute as Stefan Copetti converted a feed from Skylar Conway.
Vowinkel would put the Pride on the scoreboard in the 64th minute with a penalty kick goal, but Allen Gavilanes scored unassisted in the 75th minute to give Marist a two-goal cushion.
Hofstra returns to action next Tuesday night (Oct. 1) at home against Long Island University. Kickoff at Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

-Hofstra had a 15-7 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
-Hofstra is 10-5-1 all-time versus Marist.
