OPENING KICKOFF
Hofstra's quest to win the Colonial Athletic Association crown for the third consecutive season begins this week, as the Pride will open up conference play against Drexel on Thursday, September 26 at 6 p.m. and Elon on Sunday, September 29 at 12 p.m. Both matches will take place at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
ABOUT THE HOFSTRA PRIDE
Hofstra (6-3) is entering CAA play on a four-match win streak with wins over Stony Brook, Fairleigh Dickinson, Columbia, and the University of Pennsylvania. Over the course of those four matches, Hofstra has outscored opponents, 7-3 including a shutout victory over Columbia.
Through the first nine matches, junior midfielder
Lucy Porter is the top goal-scorer for the Pride, leading the CAA in nearly every offensive category including total goals (9), goals per game (1.00), game-winning goals (3), points (20), and points per game (2.22). On the national scale, Porter is fourth in the nation in goals scored and is sixth in goals per game and total points. Hofstra will also look for junior
Lucy Shepherd and sophomore
Miri Taylor who have both recorded two goals and four assists for eight points which are tied for second on the team.
In goal, rookie
Skylar Kuzmich will continue to lead the Hofstra defense. She posts a 6-1 mark against unranked opponents while sporting a 0.84 goals against average and .727 save percentage with two shutouts in those matches.

Historically, Hofstra has dominated the series over the Dragons, 19-4. Hofstra has won the last two matches against Drexel, including a 3-2 win on the road last season.
About the Drexel Dragons (4-3-2, 0-0-0 CAA):
Drexel, one of the weakest offensive teams in the CAA scoring only 0.89 goals per game this season, enters the match coming off a significant defeat against Columbia, 4-0. Lauren Currey has contributed to half of Drexel's scoring this season and leads the team with four goals, two assists and 10 points. Despite the goal production, Drexel has been very strong defensively, allowing just 1.14 goals per game. Two goalkeepers have seen over 350 minutes in between the iron, led by CAA Preseason Goalkeeper Libby Baeza, who owns a 3-2 record with a 1.05 goals against average and 0.760 save percentage.

Hofstra has an unblemished 5-0-0 record over Elon and has out-scored the Phoenix, 15-5 since the series opener in 2014. Last season, Hofstra defeated Elon on the road, 4-3.
About the Elon Phoenix (6-2-1, 0-0-0 CAA):
Opposite of Drexel, Hofstra will face a very high-powered offensive Elon team on Sunday that leads the league in winning percentage. As a team, Elon paces the CAA in points, goals, goals per game and ties for first with four shutouts this year. The Phoenix are currently outscoring 24-10, an average of 1.56 goals per game. Carson Jones leads the attack with five goals and 10 points, while Jessica Carrieri is not far behind with three goals, two assists, and eight points. Katrin Hauksdottir is Elon's primary goalkeeper, and she holds a 5-1-1 record with a 1.39 goals against average and 0.655 save percentage.
