New York, NY - The doubles team of
Alejandra Ruffini and
Katherine Kachkarov won the consolation bracket at "A" Doubles and the Pride have four players playing in consolation finals on Sunday at the Columbia Invitational.
Ruffini and Kachkarov posted a 6-2 win over Colgate's Lauren O'Brien and Emma Levensen in the semifinals and followed that up with a 6-1 victory over Fordham's Valeria Deminova and Avery Aude in the consolation championship match.
In other consolation doubles matches,
Jasmine King and
Maddie Brown defaulted their "B" Doubles semifinal while
Ronia Dolabany and
Odessa Stork lost in the finals of the "C" Draw, 6-3, to LIU's Veronika Koudelkova and Victoria Erechtchenko.
Mandisa Walle and
Brooklyn Samuels fell to Emily Untermeyer and Ellie Simek, 6-3, in the "D" Semifinals.
In singles play, Kachkarov dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Columbia's Christie Wan in the semifinals of the Queens Draw. In the Bronx Draw, Brown lost her semifinal match to Shivani Amineni, 6-1, 6-1.
The consolation final of the Nassau and Suffolk Draws will feature four Pride players as Dolabany and Stork will face off in the former and Walle and Samuels in the latter. Dolabany won her semifinal match over Nicole Massa of Fordham (7-6, 6-2) while Stork picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win against Katerina Atallah. Walle won a thrilling three-set match against Colgate's Nicole Condas (6-4, 2-6, 11-9) while Samuels earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Ellie Simek of Colgate.
