INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Former Hofstra Women's Basketball student-athlete
Boogie Brozoski has been nominated by the Colonial Athletic Association for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Brozoski is among 148 conference-level nominees from a pool of 585 school nominees across all three NCAA divisions being considered by the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee for the field of the top-30 honorees (10 per division). From this pool, the committee will determine the top three honorees from each division and will announce nine finalists in September before the overall winner is chosen at a ceremony on October 20 in Indianapolis.
Brozoski is just one of two student athletes in the CAA who have reached the conference-level stage in the nomination process. Claire Williams, a member of the women's swim team at William & Mary, was also selected. In addition, Brozoski is just one of 10 NCAA Division I women's basketball student-athletes to be nominated.
A community health major who concluded her undergraduate career with a 3.85 grade point average, Brozoski scored 1,030 career points between her time at Michigan and Hofstra. She was a six-time Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient and the 2018-19 CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's basketball. In addition, she earned Dean's List recognition in all six of her semesters at Hofstra.
This past season, Brozoski led Hofstra and ranked fifth in the conference with 16.2 points per game, while adding 4.0 rebounds and a team-high 3.9 assists per outing. She drained 56 three-pointers this season as well. In the first round of the CAA Championship, Brozoski poured in a Hofstra and CAA Championship record 42 points as the Pride would go on to advance to the semifinals, becoming the first team to knock off the number one seed in the quarterfinals.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program has recognized graduating female student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership since its inception in 1991.
