Vito Friscia homered, the 20th of his career, for the Pride's lone run in a 10-1 loss to LIU Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon.
Hofstra fell to 4-19 with the loss while the Blackbirds improved to 9-16.
LIU Brooklyn opened the scoring in the fourth inning, scoring twice. Alex Briggs reached on an infield single and went to second on an infield out. Andrew Smith hit a slow chopper to short for an infield single that sent Briggs to third and then home on the throw to first. After a stolen base Tim Bechtold singled up the middle to drive in the second run.
The Blackbirds loaded the bases in the sixth on three walks and scored twice on Luiny Monegro's double. The Pride got on the board when Friscia launched a shot to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning, but that was all the Pride would manage.
LIU Brooklyn added two more runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to close the scoring.
Blackbirds starter Chris Buehler (1-0) earned the win after throwing four scoreless innings, allowing two hits with two strikeouts. Hofstra starter
Mark Faello (0-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits over four innings. The freshman did strikeout five batters.
Hofstra returns to action Friday at Noon at Northeastern.

-Friscia's 20 home runs are tied for eighth all-time at Hofstra.
-The Pride's three hits were all extra-base hits as
Vinnie Costello and
Kevin O'Connor doubled to go along with Friscia's home run.
