Hempstead, NY – Hofstra freshman
Sophia Masciarelli competed in the Bucknell University Bison Outdoor Classic and classmates Lucy Shepherd and Alex Cianciolo led the Pride Women's Track Team at the Rider Invitational at the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex this weekend.
Masciarelli competed in the 5000-meter unseeded competition and placed 36
th in 19:01.55 in the two-day Bison Outdoor Classic
Shepherd, who also plays on the Hofstra Women's Soccer team, led 12 Pride runners competing in the 100-meter run. She placed 25
th overall in 13.57. Junior Sarah El Bouzaidi posted a time of 14.64 to finish in 35
th place. Classmate Sara Bornstein was 39
th in 14.98 while freshman Abby Briggs placed 43
rd in in 15.70. Sophomore
Valerie Pierre was 44
th in 15.71 while freshman Alex Cianciolo was 45
th in 15.99. Senior Tessa Considine placed 46
th in 16.25, sophomore Antoinette Montes was 47
th in 16.42 and classmate
Kristen Dansereau was 49
th in 17.91. Junior Monique Iannella, another Hofstra Soccer player, placed 50
th in 18:57, sophomore Erin Cawley was 51
st in 18:75 and freshman Meghan Fawcett was 52
nd in 19:03.
Cianciolo also competed in the long jump competition and placed 19
th with a jump of 14'9".25. Pierre placed 22
nd with a leap of 11'5".75.
Three Hofstra student-athletes competed in the 800-meter run as sophomore
Alyssa Suits finished in 37
th place in a time of 2:48.97, and freshmen Grace Giannatsi was 40
th in 2:56.87 and Caroline Czerwonka was 41
st in 2:57.16.
Two more Pride runners competed in the 1500-meter run with sophomore
Megan Boese placing 41
st in 5:28.79 and senior
Alli Bacher was 51
st in 6:10.97.
The Hofstra Women will return to action this Saturday, April 20 when the Pride compete in the Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational.
