WBB: Brozoski Pours in 30 as Hofstra Drops Regular Season Finale to William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior Boogie Brozoski poured in 30 points for the third 30+ point game of this season and her career, but the effort fell short as the Hofstra Women's Basketball team fell by a score of 83-72 to William & Mary in the regular season finale at Kaplan Arena.

Brozoski shot just 30 percent from the floor (7-of-23), but shined on the free throw line where she was 15-of-15 from the charity stripe for her 15th perfect performance at the line this season. Brozoski helped Hofstra to its best free throw shooting performance of the season, where the Pride was 24-of-25 (.960) at the line.

Brozoski was the lone Pride player to finish in double figures, in front of three who scored seven points, including junior Ana Hernandez Gil who scored nine points all on three-pointers. Junior Sandra Karsten, junior Marianne Kalin and freshman JaKayla Brown all finished with seven points, while Kalin led the team with nine rebounds.

William & Mary scored first and held on to the lead until the 4:41 mark in the first quarter when Hernandez Gil hit a three-point jumper to knot the score at 8-8. The Pride never fully got the advantage, but two Sandra Karsten free throws kept it a one-point game, 15-14. Karsten and William & Mary exchanged jump shots, as the Tribe led at the end of the first quarter, 21-16.

Sophomore Jaylen Hines opened the second quarter up with a bucket to cut the William & Mary lead to three, and after the Tribe extended the lead back out to eight, Brozoski went on her own a 6-0 run to get back within two, 28-26 in favor of the Tribe. William & Mary's Harper Birdsong hit a three-pointer to help bring the Tribe lead back out to seven points at the 2:08 mark in the second quarter, but Brozoski again went on her own run with four-straight points for Hofstra as the Pride trailed, 37-34 at the half.

Hines scored first in the quarter again for the Pride slicing the William & Mary lead to just one point, before William & Mary connected on another three-pointer to continue holding the advantage. The Tribe got the lead back out to seven points with 3:37 to play in the third, and ended the quarter leading Hofstra by six, 53-47.

After each team exchanged to points apiece, Hernandez Gil knocked down a three-pointer to cut the score to 55-52, Tribe leading. William & Mary stretched the lead back out to six, but Hofstra shrunk the advantage again with a Brozoski jump shot to make it a three-point game, 63-60 with 6:14 remaining, but that's as close as the Pride got the remainder of the way as William & Mary eventually reached an 11-point lead four times to seal their Senior Day victory.

Hofstra will now turn its focus to the CAA Championship, set to be held at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center on Wednesday, March 13 to Saturday, March 16.
