Hempstead, NY –Pride freshmen
Whit Stopak tallied two goals and
Matt Elder added a goal and an assist but Buckeye freshman Jack Myers tallied three goals and three assists and junior Tre Leclaire added four goals to lead ninth-ranked Ohio State to a 14-8 victory over Hofstra at James M. Shuart Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State, one of two undefeated Division I teams remaining, improved to 6-0 on the year. Hofstra slipped to 2-4.

Bobby Casey recorded nine saves in the Pride cage. Hofstra outshot Ohio State, 40-31.
For the Buckeyes, sophomore Jackson Reid tallied two goals and one assist, and senior Jack Jasinski added two more. Sophomore goalie Josh Kirson made 12 saves to record his fifth win of the year. The Buckeyes picked up 30 ground balls to the Pride's 28.
In a game of runs, Ohio State came out fast, scoring four goals in the first 10:39 of the first quarter with Leclaire scoring two goals in the run. But Hofstra responded with four unanswered goals of their own, by four different players to tie the game at 4-4 on Stopak's seventh goal of the year with 6:46 to play in the second quarter.
The Buckeyes then went on a 10-0 spurt through the first 21 seconds of the fourth quarter to open up a 14-4 lead following back-to-back man-up goals by Jasinski and Reid. The Buckeyes scored five goals in the final 5:15 of the second quarter and four more in the third.
Hofstra wrapped up the scoring with four unanswered goals by Stopak, Elder, Ellis and Tierney to cut the deficit to 14-8 but it wasn't enough for the Pride.
Hofstra will return to action on Tuesday, March 12 when the Pride host the Red Storm of St. John's at Shuart Stadium at 7 p.m.
